ACT Develops Corner Rounding Cutters
4 December 2012
To simplify chamfering, deburring and corner rounding operations, Advanced Carbide Tooling (ACT) has now developed its new range of Nine9 Corner Rounding Cutters. The new indexable carbide inserts are available with four cutting edges per insert to offer maximum cost effectiveness and efficiency whilst eliminating secondary deburring/chamfering operations.
Already proving a resounding success in the marketplace, the Nine9 Corner Rounding Cutters are capable of front and back chamfering whilst the CNC ground insert geometries guarantee precision and accuracy. The philosophy of the Nine9 Series of cutting tools from ACT is flexibility and productivity; and the new Corner Rounding Cutters are no different. The flexibility of the toolholders enable the end user to use a choice of radius inserts in a single toolholder to reduce inventory and costs whilst the inserts are produced from a universal TiN coated carbide grade.
This P35 grade is capable of providing high performance machining on materials from hardened, stainless, carbon, alloy and high alloy steels through to copper, bronze, aluminium and aluminium alloys. With performance parameters on these materials ranging from 60 to 350m/min cutting speeds and feed rates of 0.03 to 0.1mm/rev, end users can be confident that this addition to the ACT Nine9 family will deliver exceptional productivity benefits.
Available in 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3mm radius, the inserts for the Corner Rounding Series are 4mm thick to deliver rigidity and robustness that extends tool life and surface finishes on all material types. Furthermore, the precision ground insert not only delivers exceptional accuracy but also gives high precision location in the insert seat to enhance repeatability and accuracy when changing over inserts.
The toolholders for the Corner Rounding Series are available with a 16 or 25mm shank diameter for small or large machine tools and their respective applications. To this end, the toolholders are available with either one or four insert pockets to suit end users applications. Manufactured from a high quality tool steel, the toolholders demonstrated exceptional rigidity to further enhance tool life, accuracy and surface finishes. The toolholders are available in three lengths that include 100, 120 and 150mm whilst the cutting head is available with R10, R15, R20, R25 and R30 options for a multitude of applications.
