High Performance End Mills From ITC for Finish Machining

For finish machining and the cutting of hard materials, Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) is introducing its 4503 Series of Widia Hanita solid carbide end mills that is newly available in the company's new Widia Slimline Catalogue. The TiAlN coated end mills are manufactured from a high quality micro grain carbide substrate that delivers tool life and performance benefits beyond that of competitor end mill ranges.

The high performance 4503 Series is a truly multipurpose range of end mills that is capable of machining cast iron, steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, high temperature alloys and hard materials. This ability to deliver exceptional performance on a wide variety of materials makes the 4503 Series ideal for general machine shops as well as manufacturers imbued in the aerospace, automotive, medical, F1 and mould & die making sectors.

Further proving its credentials as a multi-purpose range of end mills, the Widia Hanita 4503 Series can be used at low cutting speeds with high feed rates for maximum stock removal rates or alternately it can be used at high cutting speeds for finish machining operations. The centre cutting 3 flute range works in harmony with the optimised 45degree flute angle to rapidly remove chips from the cutting area to prevent the re-cutting of swarf. This enhances material removal rates whilst giving impeccable surface finishes.

The Widia Hanita 4503 is available in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm diameters with shank diameters from 4 to 20mm to enhance the strength and rigidity of the series. With a cutting length from 3 to 38mm and an overall length from 50 to 104mm, the 4503 Series has been optimally designed to enhance rigidity and stability when cutting difficult materials at high speeds and feeds.

To optimise the performance levels of the 4503 Series, ITC, the Tamworth based UK agents for Widia recommend that the series is used on robust and rigid machine tools. However, the innovative geometry of the new range enables it to demonstrate exceptional surface finishes whilst reducing the stresses on the machine tool and spindle; making it equally suited to lower powered and less robust machines.
