ITC Takes Aluminium Machining To Next Level
13 May 2014
To add to its already extensive line of aluminium cutting tools, Industrial Tooling corporation (ITC) has now launched its new 3201 Series of 3-flute long length end mills. The new range has been developed specifically to deliver extremely high performance when machining aluminium and other non-ferrous materials.
The R&D team at the Tamworth based manufacturer of ground breaking cutting tools has created this new series with a radical flute geometry to provide impressive swarf clearance and surface finishes when operating at extremely high feeds. Manufactured from an ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide, this solid carbide series provides exceptional tool life and longevity with a guaranteed level of performance that outstrips expectations.
The 3201 long series of straight shank, centre cutting end mills has a right hand helix and polished flutes to enhance chip removal when operating at high feeds and speeds. The geometry of the 3201 Series offers a level of rigidity that reduces vibration to optimise surface finishes when conducting high feed cutting.
To complement this, the high helix series evacuates chips with such efficiency that swarf build-up that often causes poor surface finishes and cutting edge breakages is eliminated. The new line is available in diameters that include 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm with shank diameters from 6 to 20mm. This long reach series has an overall length of 75, 100 and 150mm depending upon the diameter selected. This long reach is offered with a length of cut from 15 to 80mm that has been optimised to support rigidity, tool life longevity and minimise vibration and noise.
With its long reach capabilities, the new 3201 Series is well suited to machining deep cavities, pockets and general rough cutting cycles. As a market leader in the aerospace and motorsport sectors, ITC has created this line to improve productivity and reduce cycle times for customers in these high tech industries.
