ITC Turns Its Attention To Turned Parts Manufacturers

Since being appointed the UK distributor for the Micro 100 range of micro turning tools earlier this year, Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) has had an overwhelming success with this new product line. The latest addition to the series that is now available from ITC is the miniature line of solid carbide boring tools.

Suitable for small turning applications and in particular targeted at sliding head lathe users, the new line of boring tools is ideal for precision holemaking from a minimum diameter of 0.3mm. Manufactured from a high quality solid carbide composition, the new boring line is available as an uncoated or AlTiN coated product. This makes the new Micro 100 line of boring tools extremely flexible and capable of machining most material types, whilst demonstrating exceptional tool life and wear resistance to maintain precision levels for prolonged periods.
The new Micro 100 boring tools are available off-the-shelf with dimensions that are suitable for minimum hole diameters of 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9 and 1mm.

To maximise rigidity and performance, the Micro 100 boring line maintains an extremely sharp cutting edge to deliver outstanding precision and surface finishes whilst the rake angle rapidly evacuates swarf from the bore to prevent re-cutting. Depending upon the tool diameter selected, the Micro 100 line is suitable for machining hole depths from 1.25 to 5mm. With an overall length of 38mm and a shank diameter of 3mm across the range, the Micro 100 boring tools are remarkably rigid for such small tools.

To support the rigidity of the series and also enhance tool changeovers, the boring line is offered with a series of corresponding precision tool holders. The round tool holders are available in shank diameters from 12 to 20mm to suit all machine types. The bore diameters of the tool holder line are available from 3 to 12mm to accommodate other tools in the Micro 100 range as well as the 3mm shank boring line. Furthermore, the toolholders offer an accurate multi-point locating design that enables the customer to precisely and quickly interchange the solid carbide boring tool with remarkable repeatability and precision levels. Additionally, by using the Micro 100 tool holders, end users can interchange at speed and with confidence in the repeatability of the tool holders.
