Leader CNC FATTENS Profits For Manufacturers with New Lathe
5 April 2013
Since being appointed the UK distributor for the European built FAT-Haco CNC turning centres in 2012, Leader CNC has enjoyed considerable success with the product range. The sales are now set to grow further with the launch of the new Haco TUR930 MN turning centre.
Highlighting the considerable capacity of the new flat-bed turning centre, the TUR930 MN is available with distance between centres of 2 ~ 6M with a Ø950mm swing over the bed. With a series of FCT/FTM (slant-bed) and TUR MN (flat-bed) CNC lathes, swinging from Ø560 to Ø1550mm and up to 16 metres between centres, already available to UK manufacturers, the new TUR930 MN fits perfectly into the standard product range. Specialised twin-carriage TUR lathes with a Ø3M swing and 22M between centres have also been manufactured and successfully installed.
With its wide tri-V slideway bed construction, the new Haco TUR930 MN now available from Nuneaton based Leader CNC is the benchmark in the precision turning of large parts that demand a rigid and robust machine tool. Capable of holding a maximum weight of 5,000kg, the new offering utilises high precision ball-screws in the X and Z axes. These are mounted on high precision bearings to deliver sensitive and accurate positional accuracy and movement. The drive for the Z-axis is transmitted to the ball-screw via a cogged belt that is driven from a high quality Siemens AC Servomotor.
Like all machines from the Leader CNC stable, the new Haco TUR930 MN is a machine built to last, with reliability and performance guaranteed. This is highlighted by the wide, stress relieved and treated machine bed, cast in FAT Haco’s own foundry, that is equipped with hardened guideways ensuring extremely accurate machining for years to come.
The headstock is built on the same principle, with a compact design that houses a heavy duty spindle supported by a combination of double-row cylindrical roller and double direction angular contact thrust ball bearings. This innovative and proven system provides exceptional precision and surface finishes whilst supporting extremely heavy loads with unsurpassed rigidity. As standard, the TUR930 is supplied with a 140mm spindle bore which, upon request, can be increased to a 220 ~ 450mm bore configuration.
Supplied with a 33kW spindle motor and a maximum 4,900 N.m of torque, the TUR930 MN has a spindle speed of 1200rpm, more than sufficient for the robust turning of large components. With the latest Siemens 840D SL control system and matching Siemens AC drives, the TUR930 MN is ideal for producing simplistic or complex components in one-offs or small batches. This combination of features makes the new turning centre a tantalising prospect for manufacturers involved in the turning of medium to large diameter and length components, such as the power generation, aerospace, oil & gas and heavy industrial sectors. With easy access to the work envelope, ideal for large gantry loaded parts, and an ergonomic independently movable operator control panel, the TUR930 MN offers the perfect solution.
Since the FAT Haco UK Distributor agreement was awarded in 2012, their diverse range of high quality CNC lathes have complemented the existing Toshiba, Kitamura, KDM, Unamuno, GER and DMC range of machining centres, turning, grinding and boring machines already distributed by Leader CNC. With the availability of the Haco turning centres, existing and new customers alike are realising that the extensive range of machine tools from Leader CNC can cater for the complete machining spectrum of rotational and prismatic parts.
