New Multi-Purpose End Mills From ITC

Extending its line of high performance solid carbide end mills, Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) has now introduced the new VariMill II 5777 Series. This new line of Widia end mills is ideal for anything from rough to finish machining of a wide variety of materials such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, non-ferrous materials and hard materials.

The new 5777 Series is a 5 fluted end mill manufactured from a micro fine carbide grain that improves tool life and edge strength when conducting high speed and high feed cutting of abrasive materials. Furthermore, the 5 flute cutter has an innovative unequal flute spacing that reduces vibration and chatter. The result of this is improved tool life, surface finishes and the reduction of stress on the machine spindle when operating to maximum material removal rates.

Ideal for improving productivity and reducing tooling costs in the aerospace, motorsport, oil & gas and automotive sectors where abrasive materials are increasingly commonplace; the 5777 Series is a true multi-purpose tool for slotting, ramping, helical milling, roughing and finish machining. This flexibility enables the end user to reduce their tool inventory and costs considerably. Furthermore, the multi-purpose nature of the 5777 Series reduces set-up times and tool changeovers for the customer.

The VariMill II 5777 Series is available in diameters from 4 to 25mm with shank diameters from 6 to 25mm to deliver maximum rigidity. To further enhance the rigidity of the range, the overall length and length of cut has been optimised to prevent vibration. This sees the range offer an overall length from 55 to 121mm and a length of cut from 11 to 45mm depending upon the diameter selected.

Whilst the geometry of the range delivers maximum rigidity and material removal rates, the series is also offered with a AlTiN coating and a corner radius from 0.25 to 0.75mm to reduce the potential for edge chipping and wear that may result from heavy cutting operations.

To build on the success of the 5777 Series, ITC is also introducing the new 5777C Series. The 5777C has an identical composition and geometry to the 5777 line, with the exception of its ability to conduct centre cutting. This proposition gives the end user even more potential for helical and plunge milling operations. With added versatility, the 5777C line is the ideal addition to any company's cutting tool armoury.
