SCHUNK Grips New Horizons With New Facility in China

At a formal ceremony, SCHUNK, the competence leader for clamping technology and gripping systems has now opened a new China Headquarters in Shanghai. SCHUNK wants to push ahead with its investment program and expand its local presence in China, something that was emphasised by Henrik A. Schunk, Managing Partner of SCHUNK, at the opening ceremony.

Since 2003, SCHUNK has been represented in China with its own subsidiary that has witnessed consistent growth since its market introduction. As the Managing Partner of SCHUNK, Mr Henrik A. Schunk calls the new headquarters an important milestone in the 70-year history of the family-owned company. With the opening ceremony 'a new era of SCHUNK begins in the Chinese market'.

The new location offers three decisive advantages. It enables SCHUNK to have more room for the growing number of Chinese staff. It also enables SCHUNK to build relationships with customers and create a knowledge transfer philosophy through the new SCHUNK Tech Center. With the help of proper functioning robot cells, visitors can have live demos of what can be achieved by using SCHUNK components and automation solutions. Moreover, work-shops and practical training will be regularly offered by experienced technical experts. “One of our most important objectives in China is to be on the spot when the customer needs us," explained Henrik A. Schunk. A long-term goal of SCHUNK is to strengthen and expand its market leading position for clamping technology and gripping systems worldwide. In this, China will be a third pillar alongside Europe and USA, said Mr. Schunk.
