Schunk Is Gripped By Success at MACH 2014

The new Schunk Synergy Concept introduced at MACH 2014 alongside a wealth of new products that were recently unveiled with their World Premiere at the recent EMO exhibition, were the primary factors behind Schunk enjoying such success at MACH. This success was topped off with the company winning an MWP Advanced Manufacturing 'Highly Commended' Award for its Vero-S SPM fixture membrane workholding technology.

The highly efficient VERO-S quick-change pallet system not only proved a resounding success at the MWP Advanced Manufacturing Awards, but also at the show with visitors to the stand keen to understand how they can reduce set-up times and changeovers with the VERO-S line.

For maximizing service lifetime and process reliability, all VERO-S modules are maintenance-free modules that are protected against chips, dust and coolant. In order to avoid chips jamming in the module during workpiece change, the base plate can be provided with a bore hole for an air purge connection underneath the opening of the clamping pin. If the modules will be automatically loaded, the clamping slide positions can also be monitored.

Added to the success of the VERO-S line, visitors to the Schunk stand at MACH have now recognized they can improve surface finishes and tool service lives by utilising the innovative TRIBOS system. The latest interfaces were shown at MACH, much to the crowd's delight. These new interfaces deliver a higher level of standardization for the precision tool holding systems for micro machining and are now available with the TRIBOS RM and TRIBOS MINI ranges.

The TRIBOS-Mini that has been designed for high-speed micro applications can now be integrated with a high-speed HSK-E 20 spindle interface. The clamping technology experts at SCHUNK believe this newly standardized interface is superior to many short taper interfaces due to its accuracy at high speeds. In addition, it needs much less space compared to the HSK-E 25 interface. SCHUNK has designed the robust TRIBOS-RM with an extended L1 dimension of 78mm especially for high-efficiency 5-axes machining.

Additionally, Schunk witnessed a huge surge in interest for its TENDO E Compact hydraulic expansion toolholders at the show. Capable of generating up to 2000Nm of torque, the TENDO E Compact delivers micron precision for a host of machining applications. With this precision toolholder, even demanding applications with tight tolerances on the form, position and surface finish can be rapidly and reliably machined; something that was demonstrated to great effect at MACH by the Schunk representatives.
