Schunk Reaches New Heights for Cancer Research

Since joining Schunk as the new Sales Engineer for the North West of England in July, Mr Steve Hardwidge has certainly made an impression. The courageous new addition to the Schunk team has just scaled the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro for the MacMillan Cancer Charity.

Before taking on the challenge of climbing the highest peak in Africa, which is the worlds highest freestanding mountain, Steve trained for 11 months and lost two stone in body weight in preparation for the climb. As if this wasn't enough, the trip to Tanzania involved flying over 3 war zones and avoiding the killer Ebola virus that is currently wreaking havoc across Africa.

The journey for the team of four friends to the peak of the 5895m mountain took 10 days in conditions that ranged from 21-30 degrees C by day and as low as -26 degrees C at night. Steve has been actively supporting the charity for some time and if anybody would like to donate to the charity, please contribute via Steve's personal page at: https://www.justgiving.com/threeoldfarts
