TaeguTec Raises the Bar in High Feed Milling

High feed milling requires the very best in cutting tool technology. Feed rates, surface quality, chip evacuation, and tool life are all vital factors, and the performance gap between a good insert and a great one can lead to significant productivity losses on the workshop floor. With the launch of the new CHASEFEED SRMT insert line, TaeguTec has introduced a solution that addresses the key weaknesses of traditional high-feed insert designs and sets a new standard.
At the heart of the new SRMT line is the ability to make full and equal use of all four cutting edges, a substantial failure of many competitor product lines. Too often, an insert design results in adjacent cutting edges being impacted during machining. TaeguTec's engineers have overcome this with an optimised geometry that keeps adjacent edges well clear of the cutting zone, allowing all four corners to be used in succession with consistent tool life and performance.

One of the most persistent challenges in high feed milling is chip management. When chips are not evacuated efficiently, they re-enter the cutting zone, scratching the workpiece, causing insert chipping and potentially jamming the cutter. The SRMT insert addresses this with its geometry that directs chips cleanly into the gullet and away from the workpiece. The result is a dramatic improvement in surface finish compared with conventional designs. This makes the SRMT line genuinely suited to roughing, high-efficiency semi-finishing and finishing applications where surface quality is paramount.
Sharp cutting edges further underpin this capability, reducing cutting forces and enabling the insert to cut cleanly through difficult materials rather than ploughing through them. This contributes to longer tool life and allows higher feed rates to be sustained without compromising component quality.

The SRMT insert is available in three sizes, the 07, 10 and 14, with four chip former configurations designed to cover the full spectrum of workpiece materials. The M chip former is optimised for steel and cast iron, the MM targets steel and stainless steel, the ML is suited to stainless steel and difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium and superalloys, while the MR is designed for hard materials or heavy machining conditions. This breadth of coverage means that a single insert platform can serve a wide range of production applications to simplify tooling inventory without sacrificing application-specific performance.

The insert range is supported by a comprehensive system of compatible cutters. TaeguTec’s TFMSR face mills are available from Ø40 to Ø200mm, while TESR high feed end mills cover Ø16 to Ø42mm. For applications requiring extended reach or modular flexibility, the Ø16 to Ø42mm TESR-M interchangeable heads are presented with compatibility with TaeguTec's T-FLEXTEC holder system. All cutters feature through-coolant capability as standard. Perfect for everything from profiling to high-feed milling to facing, shouldering, slotting, ramping and trochoidal milling.
