Matsuura, Tornos, Fanuc Robotics and Mitutoyo have teamed up to create a joint integrated technology event to be held at the Matsuura & Tornos technology centres in Leicestershire on the 16th, 17th and 18th of October 2012. Aimed at offering end users the opportunity to witness and embrace profitable integrated manufacturing solutions, industry leading turning and machining centres will be integrated with robotic and metrology concepts to focus on seamless manufacturing technology integration and the associated cost saving realities for end users, regardless of industry sector and whether they are SME’s or blue chip multi nationals.
Investing in new plant and integrated processes to maximise profitability, eliminate non productive downtime and reduce manufacturing costs is an increasingly common concept in the UK. The four host companies at the Think! Integration: Think Profit! Event are increasingly being called upon by mutual customers to work in ever closer union to deliver cost effective and proven manufacturing processes to end users. Showing companies the possibilities and the immediate net benefits of integrated manufacturing technology is the core aim of the Think Integration, Think Profit, Think Event
To this end, Matsuura will be highlighting the capabilities of 14 machine tools at its facility with another six machines in the Tornos showroom. The key focus for Matsuura will be the single table 5 axis MX-520 machine tool primarily aimed at companies making the transition from 3 to 5 axis operations. The company's latest 5-axis machine and the largest machine tool Matsuura manufactures to date in terms of capacity & size with X, Y and Z axis in the 1m range is the MAM72-100H.
Another machine of keen interest to end users at the event will be the H.Plus-630 – one of the most installed Matsuura products in the UK. This robust horizontal centre for large and complex components is a market leading solution available with a vast number of options including auto pallet changers and FMS systems that embrace the concept of the event with integration and automation – coupled with long periods of unmanned running.
From a turning perspective, Tornos will be demonstrating its award winning MultiSwiss, the new 12 axis EvoDeco 16, their dual capability Gamma 20/6b, and Delta 20/5 together with 38/5 and the new Almac CU2007. Two machines shown for the first time in the UK will be the highly productive 12-axis EvoDeco 16 that will be highlighting its 4 completely independent tooling systems with the production of medical parts whilst the new 3 to 5-axis Tornos Almac CU2007 compact machining centre will demonstrate its precision capabilities.
The Delta 20/5 and 38/5 will be aimed at all companies involved in the bar-turning of low complexity workpieces requiring 4 or 5 axis machining, providing an altogether simpler cost effective range of machining solutions alongside Tornos' mid and high end machines. For the machining of bar stock up to 22mm diameter, the Gamma 20/6b, will demonstrate how its capabilities and specification far outweighing the benefits of competitor machines in a similar price bracket. At the event, the Gamma will be integrated with a Fanuc pick & place unit to demonstrate the potential of integrated manufacture.
Also on show will be the award winning MultiSwiss that offers the footprint of one sliding head machine with the productivity of 5 machines. As Tornos' first numerical sliding headstock multi-spindle machine, the MultiSwiss is based on a ‘fully integrated’ concept that is aimed at users of multi-spindle turning machines.
The automated loading of Matsuura and Tornos machines will be demonstrated by Fanuc Robotics pick & place units whilst the machines will also be unloaded, with parts being transferred via Fanuc units to Mitutoyo CMM's for component inspection. This process will demonstrate how raw materials can be loaded and machined in one-hit regardless of complexity and then transferred to a measuring station for final inspection. The combined expertise of the four partners will highlight how end users can improve process reliability, productivity and quality whilst drastically reducing costs through automating the entire production process.
A host of tooling, workholding, CAD/CAM software, probing and swarf management companies will also be integrating their products into the processes to demonstrate the 'complete solution' concept. The supporting companies participating in the event will include Iscar, Sandvik, ITC, Floyd automatic Tooling, Jemtech, PSL Datatrack, Mecwash, Delcam and Lease UK. Not only will the supporting companies be demonstrating the quality and capabilities of their products on the machine tools, but the participants will have pop-up stands to introduce their latest innovations.
