Tom Jones Sings The Tunes at Mitsubishi
30 July 2014
Mitsubishi UK is now delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tom Jones as the company's new General Manager. Effective from the 1st July, Mr Jones has taken the reigns of the cutting tool specialist due to the retirement of his longstanding predecessor Mr Ian Morris.
Mr Jones has been pivotal in the continuous growth at Mitsubishi in recent years and has been a key driver in the company's recent SC21 accreditation where the company was awarded a bronze medal at the recent Farnborough Air Show. With over 35 years of manufacturing industry experience and over 10 years service at Mitsubishi, Mr Jones was previously a regional sales manager for the Tamworth company with a core responsibility for the aerospace sector. Mr Jones success in this role, now sees the company become the World's first SC21 accredited cutting tool manufacturer and a major supplier to the aerospace industry, with 44% of the company's turnover derived from this booming market.
Commenting upon his appointment, Mr Jones says: "Mitsubishi is a world class company that is unique in many ways when compared to competitors in the cutting tool industry. I am pleased to lead a bright and enthusiastic team that has a fantastic future. Unlike other cutting tool manufacturers that only provide product training on the latest innovations, Mitsubishi invests heavily in the career and personal development of its staff to improve the overall business model and not just the sales tools. Mitsubishi's commitment to staff excellence is highlighted by the company paying for and supporting me through my degree course."
"A major emphasis of our training programs are now focused upon assessing and benchmarking every possible aspect of our business to achieve growth. Mitsubishi has a 20:20 improvement plan and this is to double growth globally by 2020. To reach this target, we want to be the benchmark, not just in cutting tool innovations but also in our processes, development and supply chain. We are intent upon maximising improvements and efficiency throughout the company. There is no better way to demonstrate this commitment to the industry than to be the first cutting tool manufacturer to obtain SC21 status," concludes Mr Jones.
