Turning off the bar: Autonomous and multifunctional
6 December 2021
At its recent open house event, the CHIRON Group gave its world premiere to the new 715 Series. Now available in the UK from the Engineering Technology Group (ETG), the exciting new 715 Series mill/turn centre demonstrated its autonomous machining capabilities, machining components on all six sides.
Developed upon the trusted CHIRON FZ08 S mill/turn precision+ and the STAMA MT 733 bar machining centres that are also available from Wellesbourne based ETG, the new arrival fits perfectly into the CHIRON Group portfolio. Thanks to its exceptional combination of speed and precision, the 715 Series is perfect for very demanding complete machining tasks in the medical technology, aerospace, energy and automotive industries.
Flawless continuous machining process
Two versions of the machine are available and it can be tailored and configured in a variety of ways. The two types of machine, the CHIRON MT715 and CHIRON MP715 are identified as MT is the Mill Turn machine and the MP is Multi Profile, which encompasses four expansion levels for milling and turning operations in any order. The swivel head, rotary spindle and opposing spindle enable continuous multifunctional machining on all six sides. Both ensure high reliability and quality, especially for components such as hip stems, turbine blades, extrusions for chassis or battery storage.
The best conditions for high levels of automation
Both machines have space for 128 tools and boast integrated workpiece handling with workpiece storage. This means the machining centres fulfil all the demands for automated manufacturing of workpieces in small and medium batch sizes with unmanned processing. The new machine platform is also set up to integrate digital systems from the CHIRON SmartLine Portfolio.
